I will be taking part in Edinburgh Zine Fest 2024 on Sunday 11 February 2024. The event will take place at the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh. This will be my third time tabling at this zine fest and it is one of the best. I have no new zines on sale, but I will be selling some old ones that I have not had on my table in a few years. I will have copies of my How To Deal With Rejection series . There are 3 issues in total and info on these are below. Edinburgh Zine Fest will be my first event of 2024.

I have been updating the pages on this website. The information on the events and exhibitions pages have been updated and some of the pages throughout the site have been redesigned. I run this website next to my portfolio site, which also highlights my animation and other artwork. On the Do It Theatre site I mainly focus on my performance installations and my zine work. In the past few years I have mostly been concentrating on my animation work and this will continue for the start of 2024. Later in the year I plan on releasing more zines and the result of a Creative Scotland funding opportunity. This is a series of zines that look at physical space and environments, when you are autistic.

My short film Coming Out Autistic screened widely in 2023 and there are more screenings lines up for 2024. For 2024 I plan on taking part in several zine and comic cons. I will post more about this later.

Self Sabotage – New Comic

Self Sabotage is a 28 page (mostly) black and white comic book zine that looks at the topic of mental health, success, creativity, community and what it means to be an artist. The comic will appeal to readers of Graphic Memoirs, Graphic Medicine and Perzines.

The story follows the creator of the comic as they discover what it means to be successful and if their own actions and mental health ruin their enjoyment of finding success. The idea of community and networking is explored in a visually exciting and experimental way. Some of the pages are ripped and destroyed. This presents the theme of self sabotage in an interesting and original method.

Self Sabotage will also appeal to people who like zines, perzines, queer zines and outsider art.

Zines Saved My Life is a 28-page comic book about zines. It explores mental health in a visual and exciting method that shows how important zines, art and communication are. The comic is personal and intimate and follows the comic creator as they look at what zines and DIY art means to them. It is mainly in black and white, but also uses bursts of colour to fully expression the emotion and themes. Zines Saved My Life is personal and expressive and will connect with readers who love zines, comics and outsider art.

Awkward Silence – New Comic

Awkward Silence is a personal comic book that looks at quietness and solitude in a loud world. The story follows the creator as they look at how loudness and quietness has affected them and changed how they communicate with other people and their environment. Being mute and not being able to speak has many implications and these are delicately presented in this intimate and experimental comic book memoir.

Awkward Silence is personal and expressive and will connect with readers who love zines, comics and outsider art.

New Short Film ‘Prosopagnosia’

For the past few months I have been working on a new short animated documentary with the Scottish Documentary Institute. The title is Prosopagnosia and will have its Premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival this weekend. The trailer is below along with a synopsis.

Synopsis – Prosopagnosia is a story of identity that uses expressive animation to investigate intimacy, communication and memory.

Prosopagnosia is face-blindness and as a means of understanding this neurodiverse behaviour, the contents of a memory box are explored. Sketchbooks, photographs and diaries are intricately unraveled to tell a unique and personal story.
